Terms of Service

Effective 18 August 2026

SmileyWave exists to make people smile. These terms keep things fair for everyone. They're short on purpose, read them, they won't bite.

The deal

SmileyWave is free. Always. No payments, no premium tiers, no ads. It's run by ZeroWic, an independent creator based on planet Earth. By using the app you agree to these terms.

Who can use it

You must be 13 or older (16+ in the EU where local law requires it). If you're under that, come back when you're older, we'll still be here.

Play fair

The points and badges are just the game layer on top of something real. Don't let the game layer become a barrier to the real thing. That means:

If something unusual shows up on your account, we'll reach out like a friend would, we don't do bans and punishments. But we may quietly remove fake points to keep the leaderboard honest for everyone else.

Your photos, your rights

Any photo you take stays yours, full stop. Smile detection happens on your device and photos are never stored, with two opt-in exceptions (top-10 leaderboard photo, community share). If you opt in to those, you give ZeroWic a non-exclusive permission to display that photo as described at the moment you consent. You can withdraw any time via upagainstit@zerowic.com.

Your account

Keep your sign-in to yourself. You can delete your account any time in Settings → Account, everything goes with it.

Our content

The SmileyWave name, logo, badges, and design belong to ZeroWic. Enjoy them in the app; please don't copy them elsewhere without asking.

Honesty about what we are

SmileyWave is a free passion project, provided "as is". We work hard to keep it running, but we can't promise zero downtime or zero bugs, and to the extent the law allows, ZeroWic isn't liable for losses arising from using (or not being able to use) the app. It's a smile counter, not a bank.

Changes

If these terms change in any meaningful way, we'll say so in the app. Continuing to use SmileyWave after that means you accept the new version.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Slovakia. Nothing here limits protections you're entitled to under your local consumer law.
